Happy New Year!

At Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals – Navasota, we are excited to have the last few years behind us and see many of your faces walk
through our hospital again. As we look forward to 2024, we have some exciting key developments happening we want to share with
you.

Please Welcome Our Newest Doctors:

  • Meet Dr. Meghan Murphy: Originally from rural Michigan, her love and passion for horses grew her to pursue a doctorate at Michigan State University. She enjoys all sports medicine cases and traveling to horse shows.
  • Meet Dr. Sarah Chozick (formerly Nerz): From New Hampshire, she grew a deep passion for animals and completed her doctorate at Ross University. She has recently married a Texan and is eager to continue to expand her expertise with performance and medical cases.
  • Meet our 2023-2024 Veterinarian Interns: Dr. Jonathon Budd (Canada), Dr. Elisa Bentson (Texas), and Dr. Tyler Yglesias (Louisiana) have joined our professional team and will be spending a year training alongside our doctors with appointments and hospital cases.

Our Future Building and Facility Plans:

  • Parking Lot and Driveway: A badly needed expansion of the parking lot has been completed. We will expand the driveway soon. Expected Completion Month: January
  • Stalls: We are adding stalls dedicated to appointments to give your horse an area to stand while you are here. Expected Completion Month: February
  • Sports Medicine Complex: There will be a large, covered jogging area, a round pen, and 4 new private exam rooms. Expected Completion Month: May
  • Podiatry Center: With fabricated areas and 4 shoeing stations, we will have the ability to evaluate and address your horse’s feet. By the end of 2024, we expect to have a farrier on site Monday through Friday every week. Expected Completion Month: May
  • Rehabilitation Center: We will have an aquatread, cold salt spa, halotherapy (inhaled salt room), solarium, theraplate, and a
hyperbaric oxygen center. Our goal is to make the Navasota Rehab Center a destination for bleeders, post-surgical cases, respiratory cases, and complex medical cases. Expected Completion Month: June

Our New Services:

  • AcutePlus: We have partnered with AcutePlus to offer our clients a unique preventative program that bundles benefits for emergency care, colic surgery, routine vaccines, deworming, and more.
  • Dynamic Endoscope: With enhanced image quality, we can now monitor the image while your horse is being worked on or ridden, which is an improved way to evaluate your horse’s upper airway.
  • Phaco: With a new phacoemulsification unit, we are now set up to do cataract surgery in horses at reduced costs and with less scheduling conflicts. We have one of the few units in Equine private practice.
  • Electrochemotherapy: We are now using the latest technologies to allow us to treat melanomas, sarcomas, and sarcoids
    with success.
  • Lab equipment: We are approved as a Coggins lab! We have also added new equipment to allow for immediate endocrine testing, hormone testing, and more options in evaluating blood work.
  • Advanced Reproductive Therapies: We will now be offering oocyte recovery and ICSI.

Our new BVEH location is in Waco!

  • In the middle of 2023, Dr. Amy Jackson partnered with BVEH to start a location in Waco, TX. Dr. Ronnie Edwards has trusted us with his practice, Heart of Texas Equine, and Amy has been busy maintaining that legacy.
  • Meet Dr. Amy Jackson: As a barrel racer and horsewoman, Amy has exceptional skills covering a broad spectrum. She has been part of several practices in Texas and has partnered with us at our Waco location.
