W. Kurt Heite, DVM

Dr. W. Kurt Heite grew up in New Mexico working on a ranch. He attended undergraduate studies at New Mexico State University, pursuing an Animal Science degree. Following in his father’s footsteps, who also pursued a career in Veterinary Medicine, he attended Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating in 1996, he spent 1 year practicing on the race track . He then moved to Tomball, Texas to pursue his Sports Medicine career.

He spent 12 years cultivating a practice on the first mobile Equine Sports Medicine clinic. The mobile clinic attended National level horse shows, servicing clientele in the AQHA, NRHA, USEF, USDF, and APHA associations. Concurrently with the mobile clinic, Dr. Heite established a successful practice in Tomball, TX.

In February 2017, he merged Equine Sports Medicine with Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals, creating Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals Tomball Sports Medicine outpatient clinic. He has been instrumental in the design and development of the new Brazos Valley Equine Sports Medicine mobile practice that is currently traveling to shows nationwide.

As a certified FEI veterinary delegate and treating veterinarian, his focus is on performance and success of the equine athlete.

Kurt is married to Nada Wise, a successful hunter/jumper trainer in the Cypress, Texas area. He is a father to two teenage daughters, Kassidy and Sam. He enjoys traveling and bird hunting.

Ted Kellerman, DVM, CF

Dr. Ted Kellerman is a 2009 graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. He practiced for 7 years in an equine ambulatory practice in St. Louis, MO before moving to Texas to join a mixed animal practice for 5 years. In 2021 he joined Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals in Navasota to focus on equine practice.

Ted enjoys all aspects of the practice, but is passionate about disorders and diseases of the foot. He and his wife, Julie, live near College Station with their two horses and three dogs.
