Dr. Scott Strosnider

Dr. Scott Strosnider, better known as “Doc or Stro” to friends and family, grew up in the big town of Cincinnati, Ohio. Stro’s passion for horses started on his family farm, where they raised and showed cutting horses.

Stro completed his undergraduate studies at Morehead State University in Kentucky where he also played college baseball. He was voted captain by his teammates three years and led them to a conference championship his senior year. He was also fortunate to play a summer of minor league baseball before going back to Ohio to attend The Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. Stro spent his Vet school summers as an extern at BVEH in Navasota where he was fortunate to learn from T-Bone, one of the best in the field. He graduated in 1998 with his DVM. Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital, in Lexington, Kentucky, accepted the fresh vet out of OSU, and there he completed a one-year internship. After finishing his internship, Stro returned to Ohio and spent then next sixteen years at Lebanon Equine Clinic where he made lifelong friends that became a part of his family. He was a partner at LEC for his last fourteen years.

Stro relocated his family over 1,000 miles away to the tiny town of Brock, Texas, in July of 2015, to start his journey as a new partner with BVEH at Brazos Valley Equine Hospital-Stephenville. Stro’s primary interests in equine medicine are:

  •  Lameness with Sports Medicine Emphasis
  • Acupuncture
  • Dentistry and
  • Emergency Medicine

Stro met his beautiful wife, Kandi, while at Morehead and they were married in 2000. They have three very active boys, Sawyer, who is ten and six year old twins, Seth and Sutton. Kandi retired from International accounting in the corporate world where she had been employed for more than twenty-three years and is now able to be a stay-at-home mom. When Stro is not working, he enjoys spending every free minute he can with his family. From coaching and watching his boys play baseball, football, basketball, soccer; snow skiing and swimming, he loves the time they spend together. The boys are making new friends with Texas growing on them every day.

“I relocated my family to be an active part of the BVEH legacy, to help a friend grow a business for future vets to be a part of, and service some of the most greatest athletes in the equine industry. The transition for our family has not been easy, but being a part of BVEH and the Brock, Texas community feels like home.”
