David Ricks grew up in Houston, Texas. He
attended Texas A&M University, where he
graduated from veterinary school in 2001. He
spent his first two years out of vet school at a
large animal clinic in Raleigh, NC, before
moving to Whitesboro, Texas, where he worked for
Harris Equine Hospital, specializing in equine
While in Whitesboro, Dr. Ricks helped manage
mares for a number of large breeding farms in
North Texas and Southern Oklahoma, where he
aided with and performed several thousand
successful embryo transfers. He joined Brazos
Valley Equine Hospital-Navasta in 2008. A year
later, Dr. Ricks moved to BVEH-Stephenville. Dr.
Ricks has been performing veterinary services
for our breeding farm,
Brazos Valley Stallion Station LP.
Dr. David Ricks married his lovely wife, Janine,
on August 31, 2007. Janine is the courier Brazos
Valley Equine Hospital and Brazos Valley
Stallion Station. Dr. Ricks also has his pilot
license, so in his free time he likes to spend
it flying. He also enjoys hunting mule deer,
white-tailed deer, and elk.
