Dr. Kurt Heite, DVM
Dr. Kurt Heite loves the relationships he has
built with his clients and gets tremendous pride
seeing them do well. As a native New Mexican and
a graduate of Colorado State University School
of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Heite has seen many
styles of practice. He spent several years as a
race track practitioner before moving to Texas
and eventually establishing his practice in
In February of 2017, Dr. Heite joined the Brazos
Valley Equine Hospitals team and runs the
outpatient center in Tomball. He has been
instrumental in the development and design of
the new mobile Sports Medicine trailer that will
travel to shows nationally. Although most his
clientele ride Hunter Jumpers and Dressage, Dr.
Heite works on all breeds and disciplines. He
has helped clients at all the National Shows
from the Quarter Horse Congress to the NRHS
Derby and the NCHA Futurity. Dr. Heite is a FEI
certified veterinarian and specializes in
lameness and performance problems.
When he is not working, he is most likely
helping his wife, Nada Wise who is a elite Sport
Horse traniner locally. Dr. Kurt Heite has also
been involved in writing numerous articles for
such magazines as The Practical Horseman, Horse
and Rider and The Horse on a variety of equine
health related topics. Recently he collaborated
on Be a Smart Horse Buyer, a book written by Bob
Avalla where Heite address pre-purchase exams.
